Letter sent to James Hunter Ewing, Philadelphia, 20 March 1819. Addressed to Ewing "at Robert Patterson Esquire's, Chestnut Street, Philadelphia." Beatty asks Ewing to aid in the recovery of his runaway slave, Joe. Beatty instructs Ewing to "hire a constable to have him [Joe] looked up" and offer a reward of ten dollars. |

Erkuries Beatty was the first mayor of the Borough of Princeton, serving from 1818 until his death in 1823. He is buried in Princeton Cemetery. Ewing was Beatty's nephew. |
