Guyot, a Swiss-bom naturalist and geographer, was professor of geology and pysical geography at the College of New Jerset from 1854. He was a close friend of Louis Agassiz and Joseph Henry and his correspondents included many of the leading scientists, educators and writers of the peroid. |
