Dunham, James Giles, James R Gulick, Mary Middleton, Benjamin Olden (1787-1829), Charles Hart Olden, Charles Smith Olden, Franklin Gulick Olden, Hart Olden, Job Gardner Olden, Joseph Olden (1755-1827), Julia Saxon Beatty Olden, Mary Olden, Mary Worth Olden, Nathaniel H. Olden, Thomas Olden and Walter Hard Olden. Also transcriptions, facsimiles, maps, genealogical charts, research notes, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, photographs, a fraktur, a miniature watercolor portrait and a unique 18th century Trenton broadside. |

Walter Hart Olden was a member of the Fifth Generation of his family to live in Princeton. In his lifetime he was a farmer, a local and New Jersey politician, a land developer, and the de facto recordkeeper and genealogist of the Olden Family of Princeton. In this latter capacity he became the recipient of the many great family papers. Some descended to him through his direct ancestors while others, notably the papers of New Jersey Governor Charles Smith Olden, his great uncle, were acquired from the collateral relatives. And still other papers which he was not able to obtain he fully transcribed. The collection represents the single most important source for the local history of the Stony Brook area of Princeton and the genealogy of its predominantly Quaker residents. The papers of Governor Olden, of which this is the largest extant collection, deal largely with New Jersey's participation in the Civil War. |
