In pencil on back of photo: J-15 107 Library Place. Built in 1899 by Mr. Murray, who sold it to Howard Russell Butler, a designer + manager for Andrew Carnegie, about 1912 (Old number 117 Library Place). 1982: corner Library + Boudinot 107 Library Pl. Main Entrance on Boudinot - columns + porch removed - Library Pl. drive removed Glassed-in porches converted to projections of main of building mass (enclosed - same siding material as house) 1st floor fenestration changed - large picture window where entrance was. Former porch on right now w/ central rectangular window framed by pilaster + 2 round-arched windows on either side Large beech in front of house - Library Place side. Foundation plantings in front 26 R1088 Howard Russell Butlers House - in by 1913 - artist + designer worked for Andrew Carnegie 117 Library Place - old no. Neg J-15 He bought house from Murray estate built 1899 by Murray |
