Description |
A view of the Princeton University campus showing the end of East College, a dormitory built in 1833; the end of Nassau Hall, built 1756; and the Old Chapel. A man stands by a tree on the right. The Old Chapel was the college's first chapel, designed by architect John Notman in 1846. It seated 325 students, and was expanded in 1870 in response to increased enrollment. In 1882, the Marquand Chapel was built on campus and the Notman-designed chapel became known as "The Old Chapel." It was demolished in 1897 to make way for Pyne Library. |
