Description |
A man drives a horse-drawn boat by the name of "Sapolio" down Nassau Street, in front of the Nassau Hotel (the old Nassau Inn), while people watch from the sidewalk. The boat's designer, William Andrews, sailed across the Atlantic in the Sapolio in 1892, making it the first folding boat to cross an ocean. Andrews held the record for the smallest boat ever to cross the Atlantic until 1965. This photograph shows the Sapolio c. 1899. |
