Description |
A house, originally at 29 Mercer Street; now at 134 Mercer Street. Archibald Alexander rented rooms in this house when he came to Princeton in 1812, using the lower wing to teach his classes. The house passed through various hands while it stood at 29 Mercer Street next to the Trinity Church Parish school (just visible to the right, built 1849). The house was moved in September of 1893 to 134 Mercer Street. |

In pencil on back of photo: J16 Item originally 29 Mercer St now 134 Mercer moved in 1890's. Prof Alexander House Mercer St. next to Trinity Parish house now moved to Frog Hollow Note: WSG Archibald Alexander rented rooms in this house when he came to Princeton in 1812, using the lower wing to teach his classes. The house passed through various hands while it stood at 29 Mercer St. Next to the Trinity Church Parish school (just visible to the right, built 1849). The house was moved in September of 1893 to 134 Mercer St. and a note by Mr Wyatt in the HSP manuscript collection says the low wing was razed at that time. |
