Description |
Rockingham, also known as Washington's Headquarters and Berrien Mansion, in Rocky Hill, NJ. George Washington used Rockinham as his headquarters while the Continental Congress met in Princeton in 1783. The house was built c. 1702-1710 and enlarged significantly by Judge John Berrien in the 1760s. The building has been moved three times, in 1897, 1956, and in 2001. It is currently maintained by the State of New Jersey as Rockingham Historic Site. |
