Description |
A horse-drawn carriage in front of Whig and Clio Halls, Princeton University. Clio Hall and Whig Hall were both built in 1893 and designed by A. Page Brown to house debate societies: the Cliosophic Society and the American Whig Society. The societies merged into the group commonly called "Whig-Clio" in 1929 and are still housed in Whig Hall. In November 1969, the building sustained significant damage in a fire and was renovated by the firm Gwathmey and Siegel. After the 1929 merger of the two debate societies, Clio Hall housed the Department of Music. In 1963, Clio was renovated and Personnel and Career Services moved into the hall. In 2005 Clio Hall was renovated once again and the Graduate School offices were consolidated in the building. |
