Description |
The Casino being moved. The Casino was built in 1895 on Princeton University's "lower campus" to provide a home for the Triangle Club's performances. Club rehearsals and local performances were held in the building, which was also used for dances, tennis, bowling, and as a National Guard armory. The building was moved twice, first to the foot of University Place and then close to the site of McCarter Theatre, where a railroad freight building was later built. |

Print of glass plate negative in HSP collection. Primarily from local photography studios Kopp and Silvester. A note on the verso suggests the glass plate of this image was given to Mudd Library. This photograph is very similar to the image reproduced in A_5_014 and B_1_020 (which both have the old catalogue numbers "118 - R2402" written on the verso). |
